My dedication to simplicity and bright colours, refined in my graphic design and art for so many years, now finds its natural continuation in my new passion - pottery. The tableware I create also connects me with the joy of cooking and baking, not just because it is meant to contain food and may beautify my own and other people's kitchens, but also because working as a potter is so similar to working in the kitchen. When baking bread, for example, I use similar tools to those I employ in my studio. As I knead the clay, my hands move in the same way as they do when they touch the dough. And the procedure and feelings I get when firing my pots in the kiln remind me of putting bread in the oven. In both cases, you will find me standing there, waiting for the result with a mixture of hope and impatience.

I create two main tableware designs, which you can buy in my studio or order online:

  • MERRY MUSTARD (a rather smooth, bright and shiny tableware) and
  • WHITE IMPATIENCE (a rustic, earthy crockery, rough surface, matt)

Please note that size and shape of the individual objects, despite precise measurements given in the slideshow, may vary to some extent. The clays I use come from the Doble's clay pit in Cornwall. I myself work in my studio in Devon, where one-to-one tuition in throwing can also be booked. Visitors are welcome, but please contact me in advance, either via email or telephone.
